Each recruit has six major abilities, talents and dozens of combat and life-related stats. Skills (one of the nine trees the recruit can learn, gated by Background), abilities (the named combat actions tied to a tree), talents (passive growth tied to leveling) and traits (three-layer bonus across race, background, personality) are separated in the UI so builds stay readable. The Major Trait is not cosmetic — it gates which trees the recruit can learn.

Skills vs abilities vs talents vs traits
