Resources split into two layers: dungeon-found (wood logs, herbs, gemstone veins, mysterious mandrake) and settlement-produced or consumed (food, rations, crops, clay, stone, books). Clay is the most-searched crafting bottleneck — best early sources are Acid Slogels (Floor 3+, 2 clay per kill) and Predatory Frogs (5 clay per kill); Region 2 merchants offer larger quantities. Mandrake is a confirmed named dungeon find but its specific biome and downstream crafting uses are still being balanced in Early Access.
More context
Randomized floors mean specific enemies, gathering nodes, biome effects and merchant stock are the recurring sources rather than static map coordinates. Rarer and more valuable resources appear on deeper floors alongside greater threats. Treat mandrake as an expedition find that feeds the settlement stockpile; do not build a stockpile plan around downstream recipes that have not been confirmed in EA.

The two resource layers — dungeon-found resources
| Resource | Layer | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Wood logs | Dungeon | Found while exploring deeper. |
Herbs | Dungeon | Used for Medicinal Herbs, alchemy. |
Gemstone veins | Dungeon | Rarer on deeper floors. |
Mysterious mandrake | Dungeon | Named in official store description; specific biome / crafting use still being balanced in EA. |
Settlement-layer resources
Food, rations, crops from cultivated fields, camping supplies for the next expedition — see Food and Shelter and Farming Guide. Clay, stone and books are Floor 1+ or Floor 3+ dungeon finds feeding the crafting chain. Dungeon merchants (Aric in Veil of Silence, Cedric in Festering Burrow) are the trading layer for materials. Forbidden fruit is borne by ancient trees in exchange for blood, tying living dungeon threats to settlement resources.
Clay — confirmed enemy sources
| Enemy | Floor | Clay per kill | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Acid Slogel | Floor 3+ | 2 clay | Small quantities; drop is not guaranteed. |
Predatory Frog | Confirmed | 5 clay | Better single-target source once the party is strong enough to fight them. |
Clay — merchant sources and what it unlocks
Dungeon merchants stock clay and become the more reliable option for larger building needs. Region 2 in particular offers better merchant access to clay, making it a smoother mid-game resource than endless grinding on Floor 3. Clay unlocks the Kiln (Clay ×4 → Ceramics), Ceramics (consumed by mid-game crafting such as Goddess's Tears), the Farm (settlement-tier agricultural structure), the Leather Workstation (hide processing), and the Casting Workbench (metal casting).
Crafting stations and what they consume
| Station | Inputs | Output |
|---|---|---|
Smelter | Raw ore | Metal ingots. |
Forge | Ingots, fuel | Iron / steel tools and metal items. |
Anvil | Ingots, fuel | Advanced metal gear. |
Kiln | Clay ×4 | Ceramics. |
Alchemist Workstation | Ceramics ×5 + Mana Stone Powder ×60 | Goddess's Tears (used to purify Dark Thorn Vine). |
Hunter's Workshop | Dungeon carcasses | Meat, hide, bone. |
Cooking Workstation | Raw food | Cooked meals (double nutritional value). |
Farm | Seeds (e.g. Oats seed) | Crops → food loop. |
FAQ
Is mandrake actually used in crafting?
Mandrake is a confirmed named dungeon resource but its specific biome and downstream crafting recipes are still being balanced in Early Access. Treat it as an expedition find only.
